Fengyu
Cave
Fengyu
Cave is situated in Lipu County, some 95
kilometers away from Guilin City. Fengyu
Cave, which was named by teeming with oil
Feng fish in its underground river, is commended
upon "A cave links nine big hills,
wonderful landscapes are unique in the world."
At present, it is exploited becoming a new
pattern of journeys in Guilin City.
A Legend has it that, in an
ancient dynasty, two woodcutters who cut
woods in the mountain, entered a huge cave
by mistakes. In the cave, there was babbling
water. What's more, they found precious
oil Feng fish in the water. So they captured
them and contributed them and contributed
them to the government of lingnan, and become
the No.1 rich in the place.
Fengyu Cave has a total length
of 5.3 kilometers, and a subterranean river
course 4.1 kilometers long. There are many
large chambers within the cave and 10 branches.
The biggest chamber is more than 25,500
square meters, with a cave height of 36
meters.
There are four parts to the
cave complex.
The first is the (relatively)
dry chambers inside the cave, covering a
length of 2.2 kilometers. There are many
brilliant and magnificent stalagmites and
stalactites which form stone curtains, and
shapes that have been named "the pagoda
kingdom," "the paradise"
and "fairyland" etc.
The second element is a boat tour on an
underground river, which has a total length
of 3 kilometers inside the cave. After boarding
a boat on the river, the marvelous scenes
on both banks will leave you with a memorable
impression.
The third part is in a big hall near the
natural entrance of the cave. It is a public
place of entertainment where people can
drink, sing and dance inside the cave.
The fourth one is the water playground outside
Fengyu Cave used to provide entertainment
in the evening.
This is a beautiful cave, with
a lot of stalagmites that are young and
have grown quickly. The dating of one stalagmite
shows that it grew 2 meters in only about
20 thousand years (from 25,000 to 3,000
years ago). Most of the stalagmites are
slender. For example, a stalagmite, named
Dinghaishenzhen (marvelous needle) is 9.8
meters high but only about 15 centimeters
in diameter. The colorful slender stalagmite
forests make the cave very fascinating
