Silver
Cave
The Silver Cave, located 85 kilometers south
of Guilin City, 25 kilometers from Yangshuo
County, is a splendid limestone cave. It
runs through twelve hills and a roundabout
tour covers approximately 2 kilometers.
The Silver Cave is a 2 kilometers
storied cave which penetrates beneath twelve
hills. The cave is deep and irregular, with
a great number of stalactites which glint
like silver in the darkness - hence the
name of the cave.
The Silver Cave and its surrounding
area strike visitors as similar in appearance
to a natural bonsai embraced by hill. There
are two graceful hills sporting thousands
of peach trees and with the fragrance of
fruit blossoms floating around in the air
throughout the year. The wooded mountains,
pointed jade-like hills, numerous peach
trees and flaming wide flowers make the
Silver Cave an inviting spot to imbue oneself
with nature. Indeed, a visit here is often
escorted by fragrance from the flowers and
mellow fruit which grow in the area.
These majestic, diamond-like
stalactites decorate the cave and make it
a dazzling place. It consists of three parts,
the lower cave, the grand hall and the upper
cave. The Cave collects stalactites of deferent
geologic ages and some tens of remarkable
scenic spots, taking the Screen of Music,
the Keep Moon Palace and waterfalls on Snow
Hill as the example of matchless spots,
alongside with the three treasures of the
Buddha Discussing on Buddhist Sutra, the
Mixed Pearl Umbrella and the Solitary Pillar
Propping up the sky. So experts on Karst
geology from France praised the cave as
"The World Limestone Cave Miracle."
In regards to activities, on
the Green Lake one is able to row a boat
and fish, whilst cliff climbing is possible
at the Red Hill Precipice. It is an exciting
and joyous area, hence its name of "Green
poetic homeland."
